Azlan Othman

Two male foreign nationals were recently arrested and taken to the Law Enforcement Division of the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) for investigation as they were found to be self-employed carrying out tree-cutting work, collecting scrap metals and violating their immigration passes.

The Law Enforcement Division of the INRD of Bandar Seri Begawan conducted operation named Tumpas JIPK 82/2022 which targetted a village in Mukim Mentiri.

Violation of the conditions of an immigration pass is punishable by a BND600 fine. Their work passes will also be cancelled and them deported from the country with their names blacklisted. They will also no longer be allowed to work in the Sultanate.

Employers who employ immigration offenders stand to receive a BND3,000 find 000 for each immigration offender.

The department said it will increase enforcement activities such as monitoring and conducting operations alone or in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies.
