Two embrace Islam

Mary Ann Loder Malcontento, 31, and Analyn Labitag Biong, 29, yesterday converted to Islam in a ceremony held at The Rizqun International Hotel.

The Syahadah was recited in the presence of officers from the Dakwah Dissemination Section of the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI).

Mary Ann took the Muslim name Siti Nur Mariam binti Abdullah, while Analyn took the Muslim name Raabiyah Rukhshana Rahsheeda Triyant binti Abdullah.

PDI Acting Director Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Kahar witnessed the conversion as the guest of honour.

The event also saw the presentation of a souvenir to Muhammad Nur Azri Azfar bin Norzain, 28, a Murut who converted to Islam on March 25.

A Dikir Marhaban was also held. The evnet concluded with a Doa Selamat.

Between January and March 26, 100 individuals converted to Islam nationwide, 59 of which were from Brunei-Muara District. Converts will undergo a 10-day course guidance on the Islamic identity at the Islamic Da’wah Centre in Malay, English or Chinese languages.
