James Kon

A local company and a restaurant were each issued with a compound fine of BND500 by Tutong District Office’s Enforcement Unit for leaving commercial and construction waste in public areas, a violation under the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021.

Both businesses are required to settle the fine within seven days.

If an accused fails to do so, the case will be brought to court and the business can face a fine of BND2,000 or no more than BND10,000 for the first offence.

For subsequent offences the accused can face a fine of BND10,000 or no more than BND30,000 or imprisonment of no more than 12 months or both.

The Tutong District Office Enforcement Unit reminded the public to maintain the cleanliness of the surroundings and public areas.
