Two local companies in the Tutong District were levied compound fines by the Law Enforcement Unit of the Tutong District Office after they were found littering in public areas violating the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021.
Both companies each received a BND200 compound fine and were given seven days to settle the fine. Failure to settle the fines would lead to the companies being brought to court and risk another fine of BND2,000 and no more than BND10,000 for the first offence, and between BND10,000 and BND30,000 in fine and imprisonment of no more than 12 months, or both, for second or subsequent offence.
The Law Enforcement Unit also call on the public, companies and commercial property owners to maintain the cleanliness of their environment.
