The festive stage performance in the Tutong District kicked off with a 60’s nostalgic song competition joined by 10 participants at the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital on Saturday.
Kosno, with the song Oh Fatimah, was named the champion, while Shiken HA with Aku Kecewa and Zee Hamid with Senyum Tak Terbalas were placed second and third.
The contest was held in conjunction with the 77th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The competition’s chair Pengiran Haji Tengah bin Pengiran Haji Putih hoped the event had unearthed local veteran talents while showcasing 60’s songs to the younger generation.
Organised by Kugiran Lavender, a similar competition will be held in Temburong today and Brunei-Muara District on July 29.
Legislative Council member and Village Head of Kampong Sengkarai Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan, said music enthusiasts had been anticipating the event to display their talent. – James Kon
