The Embassy of Turkey in Brunei Darussalam donated food packages for 300 families in the country in a ceremony at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium yesterday.

Permanent Secretary (Community and Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari and the Ambassador of Turkey to Brunei Darussalam Professor Dr Hamit Ersoy handed over the donations.

The donations were funded by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) at the request of the Turkish Embassy and in coordination with the MCYS.

The donation drive-through saw families receive essential items such as rice, oil and food items.

Professor Dr Hamit Ersoy said, “We are here to distribute these packages to the less fortunate families in the spirit of Ramadhan,” adding that it is a command to take care of the less fortunate during this period and “reflect upon their conditions”.
