Tubowlculosis from the National Mycobacteriology Reference Laboratory emerged winners of the Interlaboratory Bowling Tournament after amassing 1,500 pinfalls at the Golden Bowling Company in the Airport Mall, Berakas recently.
Bloodstream Bowlers from the Blood Donation Centre finished runners-up with a total of 1,395 pinfalls while Virolicious De’ Legends from the National Virology Reference Laboratory was placed third with a total of 1,337 pinfalls.
Director of Laboratory Services at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Dr Hajah Surita binti Haji Mohd Taib and President of Brunei Darussalam Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (BAMLS) Dr Haji Osmali bin Haji Osman were the guests of honour.
The one-day meet aimed to develop interest in the sport as well as scout potential talents and strengthen relations between the laboratory staff and BAMLS members.
The event will be one of the annual events of the Department of Laboratory Services and BAMLS in line with the Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) initiative, which aims at promoting physical activities to tackle risk factors of non-communicable diseases. Jointly organised by the Department of Laboratory Services (DLS), MoH and BAMLS, the tournament saw a participation of 19 teams comprising BAMLS members and laboratory staff from DLS and Jerudong Park Medical Centre.
