Tuanku Zara joins water park fun run at Bukit Merah

BAGAN SERAI (Bernama) – Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim joined about 1,000 participants for the Water Park Fun Run 2020 at the Bukit Merah Laketown Resort (BMLR) yesterday.

Tuanku Zara was accompanied by Perak Menteri Besar’s wife Datin Seri Dr Nomee Ashikin Mohamed Radzi and MK Land Holdings Berhad executive chairman Felina Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal on the two-kilometre run, which started at 7.20am.

The participants of the run, which was held for the first time, were also excited and thrilled by the 13 games available at the theme park such as Family Splash Adventure, Crazee Cone, Giant Wet Bubble, Boomerang and Racer Slide.

At the event, Tuanku Zara also witnessed MK Land presenting RM50,000 to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Alor Pongsu and SK Kampung Selamat for the educational development programme for prospective Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR) candidates.

Meanwhile, MK Land’s Deputy Chief Operating Officer Kamarulzaman Abu Bakar said the run aimed at promoting healthy family activities, to strengthen relationships between the local communities and statutory bodies, and to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

“It indirectly enlivens the theme park which is usually crowded during the school holidays. Besides the water and recreational activities, the BMLR is also popular for other occasions such as weddings, gatherings, meetings and sports activities.

“The resort, which has been in operation for 20 years is surrounded by a 28 hectare lake. Therefore, many activities can be conducted whether land or water-based activities which promises optimum satisfaction, beautiful scenery and fresh air,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Kamarulzaman said Bukit Merah besides offering fun and excitement to people from all walks of life, was also a place to gain knowledge via the Eco Park and Orang Utan Island.

The BMLR, operating since 1997 was launched by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
