The Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday handed down prison sentences to three local men for multiple charges of theft in dwellings and a trespassing charge at Mengkubau Housing Area after the conclusion of a trial.
Mohammad Suhaib bin Haji Narudin was sentenced to 19 months’ in prison, Hafizan bin Abdul Aziz, to 18 months in prison and Mohammad Aminnudin bin Ahmad Termizi @ Matdani bin Juni, to 20 months.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Sabrina binti Haji Mahmud’s case against the trio stated that sometime between March 6 and 7, 2017, Hafizan and Mohammad Aminnudin climbed the pipes attached to a wall of a house and stole an electric drill and a gas cylinder.
Mohammad Aminnudin sold the gas cylinder to a shop in Kampong Sungai Buloh for BND50 and the proceeds were shared between Hafizan and Mohammad Aminnudin. The drill was not recovered, however, the gas cylinder was recovered by the Special Duties Officers of Muara Police Station.
At 2.30am on April 1, 2017, Mohammad Suhaib and Mohammad Aminnudin broke into another house with the intention to steal.
Mohammad Aminnudin climbed up the pipes on the walls of the house and entered the house through the open toilet window while Mohammad Suhaib waited for him outside the back door of the house.
When Mohammad Aminnudin was about to open the back door, he heard a door in the house being opened and he exited the house through a kitchen window. He and Mohammad Suhaib then left the scene.
The prosecutions’s case showed that Mohammad Suhaib and Mohammad Aminnudin entered another house sometime between April 12 and 13, 2017, and stole BND1,700 and jewellery belonging to the occupant.
They took the stolen items back to Mohammad Aminnudin’s house.
Mohammad Suhaib and Mohammad Aminnudin divided the cash between themselves and sold the items on Facebook. None of the items were recovered.
The prosecution’s case showed that sometime between April 18 and 19, 2017, Mohammad Suhaib, Hafizan and Mohammad Aminnudin went to another house where they stole a Sony PlayStation 3 set and a headset. The following day, they sold the items on Facebook and obtained BND150.
The money was shared among themselves.
The prosecution’s case about another house theft showed that sometime on May 4, 2017, Mohammad Suhaib, Hafizan and Mohammad Aminnudin stole two coin banks and some jewellery. The jewellery were sold off and profits were divided among themselves.
It was the prosecution’s case that on the matter of another house, Mohammad Suhaib and Mohammad Aminnudin stole a cordless drill machine, five drill bits, two phone chargers, and a Davidoff Champion Eau De Parfum.
Mohammad Suhaib and Mohammad Aminnudin profited from the sales of the stolen items. None of these items were recovered.
