A tree near Meriong Muslim Cemetery in Kampong Labu Estate, Temburong District caught fire on Wednesday.
The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) said six firefighters from Bangar Fire Station, led by ASO Lain anak Asun responded to an emergency call at 10.41pm.
On arrival, the FRD found the tree on fire, nearly spreading to a nearby bush.
The department reminded the public to be vigilant and avoid planting trees too close to homes, and to refrain from carrying out open burning to prevent the flames from spreading out of control.
The FRD holds Life Saver 995 and Fire Marshal courses as well as Fire Safety briefings for the public to learn proper and safety procedures during emergencies and the correct use of firefighting equipment.
