Firefighters rescued an accident victim trapped in his vehicle along Kampong Limau Manis in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), two fire engines with 10 firefighters from Pengkalan Batu Fire Station, led by DSO Haji Abnoh, were deployed to the scene following a 4.20am distress call.

The SUV vehicle had struck a road barrier and landed on its side. Acting swiftly, the team disengaged the car’s battery and extracted the victim with the help of an SOS equipment. The male driver sustained minor injuries.

The FRD reminded motorists to abide by road and traffic regulations, to refrain from using mobile phones while driving, to not get behind the wheel if they are feeling sleepy or intoxicated, to be extra cautious when driving in poor weather conditions and to regularly have accredited workshops check their vehicles for road worthiness.
