A TRAINING seminar was held for Test Administrator (TA) comprising teachers based in the Belait District, at the Business Art Technology (BAT) Room, in Anthony Abell College (AAC), Seria yesterday.
The seminar, conducted for over 20 teachers from various schools in the Belait District, provided an opportunity for participants to understand tasks required to oversee the Programme for International Students Assessment (PISA) 2018 Main Survey as a TA; and includes various briefings given by the staff members from the Ministry of Education PISA Task Force (MPTF).
The PISA 2018 Main Survey represents an international survey aimed at evaluating education system worldwide by testing the skills and knowledge of 15-year-old students, and that the MPTF has been actively preparing for the implementation of the system required for students to sit for the assessment later this year.
The seminar aimed to orient teachers with the standard procedures of overseeing the assessment outlined by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), organisers of PISA.
The training includes lectures and hands-on methods. The training seminar was previously held at Muda Hashim Secondary School and Katok Secondary School. For the first time, students of Brunei Darussalam will be assessed based on their literacy, science, mathematics, and global competency in the PISA 2018 Main Survey. The assessment will be held from April 9 – May 30. Over 6,000 students will go under the assessment.
