A total of 74 trainees from Brunei Fertilizer Industries Sdn Bhd (BFI) currently undergoing Operation and Maintenance Training left the country yesterday to continue their training overseas at Institut Teknologi Petroleum (INSTEP) Petronas in Terengganu, Malaysia.
Present to bid the trainees farewell at the Brunei International Airport were Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BFI Mohammed S Baderkhan, BFI management as well as families of the trainees.
According to a press release, the trainees represent the first batch of 169 Bruneians who, upon successful completion of their training, will be part of BFI’s organisation to operate its ammonia and urea plant, which is expected to be completed in mid-2021.
The trainees will spend between three to four months in Malaysia for hands-on learning in INSTEP and on-the-job training at various ammonia and urea plants to gain exposure and working experience.
Their departure came after the signing of the Operation and Maintenance Training Agreement between BFI and Petronas Technical Training Sdn Bhd on September 14.
Under this agreement, BFI’s technical trainees will be trained in the following disciplines – laboratory, operation, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation.
