KOTA TINGGI (Bernama) – All tour operators have been called to provide comprehensive training in safety and emergency plan to ensure the safety of employees, tourists and the public in accidents at their premises.
National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said employees in the tourism industry should be given adequate training so that they know how to identify risks and the way to handle them based on the concept of Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC). “Employers need to implement safety training as part of the occupational safety and health management so that employees are ready to face any emergencies,” he said.
He made these remarks at the opening of Seminar and Dialogue on Empowering Occupational Safety and Health in the Johor Tourism Sector at Bayu Balau Beach Resort.
The half-day seminar was organised by NIOSH and the South East Johor Development Authority (KEJORA).
