The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) recognises the importance of safety and quality for all visitors and tourists. In response, the Tourism Development Department has introduced Brunei Darussalam Tourism Adventure Activities Guideline (BDTAAG) for adventure activities tour providers as a reference tool.

This was said by Acting Director of Tourism Development Salinah binti Haji Mohd Salleh during the presentation of certificates for adventure activities tour providers and safety coordinators yesterday.

Permanent Secretary at the MPRT Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab was the guest of honour at the event at Setia Pahlawan Hall, MPRT.

She said tourism providers with the accreditation can provide tourists assurances in adventure covering height, water-based and land-based activities. With continuous monitoring, clients are guaranteed safety and memorable experience in the Sultanate. Nine tour operators received certification in recognition for compliance with BDTAAG – Jerudong Park Adventure Kingdom; Freme Rainforest Lodge; Oceanic Quest; Trandie Marina Resorts; Gunung Mutiara ATV; AZ Back To Nature; Sumbiling Eco Village; Kingdom Rides & Adventures; and Poni Divers.

Certificates were also presented to 17 recipients for completing a safety coordinator course organised by Berjaya Aman, a certified training provider by Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) in 2020-2022.

The course includes emergency preparedness plan (ERP), identifying common hazards and assessing potential risk, implementing safety management system (SMS), recording and reporting incidents, understanding the law and the need to comply and understanding how the safety management system works.
