STUDENTS of Pusat Bahagia in Kampong Pulaie had a day to remember recently when they took part in the Hari Raya celebration hosted by Total at the centre in Kampong Pulaie.
Joining in on the fun together with the special individuals were Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the guest of honour, and Total General Manager Vincent Dutel and his senior management team.
“There have been positive developments in society, with international corporations increasingly eager to contribute to the festive mood for special individuals, and Total is one of them,” the minister said in his speech at the celebration.
“The ministry acknowledges the contributions of corporations not only in terms of social activities but also in terms of supporting nation building, especially in terms of efforts to help target groups, and welcome more organisations to come forward and carry out these community initiatives.
The minister and Dutel joined other officers from the ministry and the students on stage, singing Hari Raya songs and performing dance together.
The students also performed a short Raya sketch.
Presentation of donations to students of Pusat Bahagia contributed by Total was also held.
Part of Total’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, the Raya celebration was a mark of the company’s commitment in contributing back to and engaging with the community – in particular the differently abled – and is the first time Pusat Bahagia is collaborating with a company to host such an event for their students.
