The Dean’s List Award is given to those scoring at least 75 per cent and students ranked in the top five per cent of their programme. With these criteria, the recipients undoubtedly excelled academically, are motivated and highly disciplined, said Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman at an award ceremony held in conjunction with UTB’s 8th ConvocationCeremony recently.

She expressed hopes that the recipients would increase their efforts to achieve success or even earn the Vice-Chancellor’s Medal or be the first recipients of the Chancellor’s Medal.

Deputy Minister of Development Dato Seri Paduka Ar Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin was the guest of honour at the event at the Multipurpose Hall, UTB.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed by a speech from the UTB Vice-Chancellor.

The event continued with the award presentation by the guest of honour.

Thirty-six students received Dean’s List Award 2019-2020 and five students received Co-Curricular Activities Awards.

The recipient of Religious Award, one of the five co-curricular activities awards, Muhammad Khaliq Syafie bin Md Don was recognised for his involvement in Students Council – coordinating religious events. He said he is grateful for the recognition.

Another high achiever and a Dean’s List Award recipient Siti Norazirah binti Hamdan expressed her happiness and said prayers and guidance from her parents are the secrets to her success. She also advised students to not procrastinate when it comes to studies.
