TK Tea House emerged champions of the 5.11 Veteran Basketball League after a 94-73 victory over RYS at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat last night.

The newly crowned winners ended the tournament with an unbeaten record having emerged victorious in all of their games with finalist RYS slipping to their only defeat in the campaign.

Ryan Labrica Garcia and Roudon Tercero Binaz led the team with 15 points each while trio Aries Raymundo, Apollo Martinez and Jerson Umalton Mendoza each collected 11 points.

TK Tea House captain Elvin Casue Requintin also played a central role with his series of shot-making moves contributing to a double-digit lead at the end of the third quarter. With the title in their sights, TK Tea House nearly pulled off a sublime team move when Garcia passed the ball and Requintin jumping in mid-air but unfortunately missed the hoop.

TK Tea House coach Dragon Chong hailed the immediate impact of Mendoza after playing a starring role late in the match.

The coach told the Bulletin, “He was a very important player to the team. He made a perfect conversion rate.”

Dragon also said that they are planning to join the Sultan Cup next weekend with plans to add younger players to create a balance of youth and experience.

RYS emerged runners-up while Concept Computer took third place.

President of Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) Jake Goh presented the prizes.
