I believe the safety campaign at filling stations is bearing fruits because I was recently getting petrol when an attendant knocked on my window and pointed at the phone in my hands. I was about to reply a work text and was glad to be reminded of the safety hazard for doing so.
What surprised me about the news item, ‘Filling station safety campaign continues’, published in yesterday’s Bulletin is that there are still people out there who don’t accept these rules, such as switching off the car engine while refuelling.
Kudos for holding the campaign because I believe that changes need to start from the ground up. These attendants get to help the public understand why these rules are in place in the most direct way. Compared to roadshows, it has comparatively more impact.
