Thumbs up for 38 top students

SAYYIDINA Ali Secondary School (SMSA) organised a Best Students award ceremony at the school’s multi-purpose hall yesterday.

The guest of honour, Acting Head of the Special Education Unit at the Department of Schools Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor presented trophies and certificates to the students.

Deputy Principal (Academic) Sharifah Raihani binti Haji Wan Ali, Deputy Principal (Administration) Hajah Mazizan binti Haji Mohammad, Operational Chairman of the school Haji Jafaar bin Ahmad, Chairman of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Nordin bin Haji Zainal; staff members, teachers, students as well as parents and guardians were present.

Thirty-eight students, comprising 22 Year 11 and 16 Upper Sixth Form students, who achieved outstanding results in their BC GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level examinations, received the Best Students awards.

The ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem and school song followed by a speech by the school’s Principal Steven Shim Sheau Huei.

The event proceeded with the presentation of awards.

A prize presentation for the Most Outstanding Performance was also held. Syuhaudah binti Jamil, who obtained nine ‘O’ Levels, and Natasha Ng Jhiahui, who obtained four ‘A’ Levels received awards. The event continued with valedictorian speeches by Syuhaidah and Foo Jiong Yang.

A Tausyeh performance was also conducted, followed by a photo session.
