Three nabbed in immigration raid

Three foreign workers were detained during a raid on a construction site by immigration enforcement officers in the Belait District for violating immigration laws and regulation on Tuesday.

According to the Immigation and National Registration Department (INRD) the workers had overstayed after their immigration passes had expired, violating Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act and Regulations, Chapter 17. The workers were also not working as stated in their work passes, a violation of Regulation 15(2) of the Immigration Act and Regulations, Chapter 17.

The INRD reminded the public that actio will be taken against any person who violates the law. Foreign citizens who are convicted of an offence will be imprisoned, deported, and their names blacklisted.
