THE Temburong Police District of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has arrested three local suspects who are believed to have been involved in a car theft case. The three individuals are aged 25 to 51 years.
According to a press statement, on March 11, 2018, approximately at 7.30pm, the vehicle owner of a gray-coloured family van parked his car next to the Jaya Muhibbah store building in Pekan Bangar. He went into the store leaving the car’s engine ignited. The victim then discovered the car had disappeared when he went out, and immediately reported it to the police.
Based on public tip off, the police managed to find the stolen vehicle at Ujung Jalan in the compound of an empty house. A number of suspects were then identified and taken to the Bangar Police Station. The investigation led to two other suspects related to another theft case.
All three suspects were brought to the court and two of them remanded until the next case hearing, while the other suspect was released with bail. The case is being investigated under the Section 380 of Criminal Code of Judgement Term 22, and if convicted, suspects would face jail up to seven years or fine.
The RBPF welcomes the public to share any information regarding criminal activities via the RBPF hotline 993.
