Three local companies were slapped with compound fines for a slew of violations under Chapter 30 of the Minor Offences Act during a joint operation, Operasi Bersepadu Bersih 13/2020, carried out by the Law Enforcement Unit of Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department, the Law Enforcement Division of the Land Transport Department and the Environmental Health Division of the Ministry of Health.

According to the BSB Municipal Department, two companies, Mb Star Euroauto Sdn Bhd and The Tyreshop Company, were each issued with a BND500 compound fine for the disposal of petrol waste and commercial rubbish in public areas in Tungku Link.

Findings from an investigation also found that two extension structures were built on government land near the premises. The case has been forwarded to relevant authorities for further action.

Meanwhile, Bismi Enterprise was levied with a compound fine of BND200 for discarding commercial waste at a public area in Tungku Link.

The offenders have been given seven days to settle their fines at the Finance Division of the BSB Municipal Department. Failure to do so will result in a further fine of BND1,000 or a month’s imprisonment. For subsequent offence, a fine of BND3,000 and up to three months’ jail is the punishment.

Business establishments are reminded to refrain from disposing rubbish at public facilities.
