ANN/THE JAKARTA POST – The detective story features Putri Marino, Abimana Aryasatya, Lutesha and comedians Arie Kriting and Kristo Immanuel.
Netflix Original Indonesia launched the film The Big 4 at a screening event at The Dharmawangsa Hotel in South Jakarta on Thursday.
The film is director Timo Tjahjanto’s first in the action comedy genre, and he co-wrote the script with Johanna Wattimena.
A prominent action and horror director, Timo is known for films including The Night Come Before Us and May the Devil Take You (Sebelum Iblis Menjemput).
The Big 4, said Netflix Indonesia content lead Rusly Eddy, maintained Timo’s characteristics, which often featured bloody action scenes that entertained viewers, and presented another side of Timo, who was actually a “joker”.
“I wanted to see that violence could be funny. I mean this is my first film where violence and chaos are part of a comedy,” said Timo of the movie, which depicts an unconventional family history.
The Big 4 tells the story of a detective named Dina (Putri Marino) who goes to a remote island to investigate the death of her biological father. When she arrives on the island, Dina learns that her father used to be the leader of a group of assassins.
As the story progresses, Dina has to join forces with four former assassins who are also her father’s students, played by Abimana Aryasatya, Lutesha and comedians Arie Kriting and Kristo Immanuel.
