The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) through its Islamic Religious Body held a Tedarus ceremony and talk to commemorate Nuzul Al-Quran at the Police Headquarters Surau on Thursday.
RBPF Commissioner Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali was the guest of honour.
Imam of Police Headquarters Surau APO Staff Sargeant 6472 Mohammad Yusri bin Haji Abu Bakar led mass Zohor prayer before the ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by Tedarus Al-Quran.
Director of Centre of International and Public Relations of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali Dr Haji Hambali bin Haji Jaili delivered the religious talk.
The ceremony concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat.
RBPF Deputy Commissioner Dato Seri Pahlawan Sulaiman bin Alidin, directors, deputy directors, commanding officers of police districts, head of formations and RBPF staff were also present.
Meanwhile, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) also commemorated Nuzul Al-Quran in a ceremony organised by Student Affairs Section (HEP), Religious and Community Service Unit and UBD Student Association (PMUBD) at the UBD Mosque yesterday. Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at Ministry of Education (MoE) Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad was the guest of honour.
The celebration included Khatam Al-Quran among UBD members, Tadabbur Al-Quran Perdana, and celebrating new Muslim converts.
Donations were also presented 10 orphans, seven single mothers and seven new converts comprising UBD members.
The ceremony coincided with the handing over of donation from UBD Fund to orphans across the nation.
Assistant Lecturer from Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak delivered a religious lecture on Tadabbur Al-Quran Perdana.
The objectives of the ceremony included glorifying the Nuzul Al-Quran celebration, encouraging Muslims at UBD to continuously seek knowledge and as part of the effort in appreciating a Zikir Nation.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Adh-Dhuha led by the imam of the UBD Mosque, followed by the mass recitation of Khatam Al-Quran, as well as Takhtim by UBD Dikir, Nasyid and Tausyeh Club. A Dikir Marhaban was also held to celebrate the newly Muslim converts.
UBD Vice Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle was also present.
