Teachers, pupils escape three-car crash with light injuries in Tawau

TAWAU (Bernama) – Four teachers and four pupils sustained only minor injuries in an accident involving three vehicles at KM12 of Jalan Tawau-Merotai yesterday.

Tawau police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said in the 5.50am incident, a car driven by a 43-year-old teacher skidded and veered into the opposite lane before colliding with two cars, both driven by women teachers aged 46 and 35.

“The driver of the first car carrying two girl students aged 15 and 13 from Merotai to Tawau town lost control before his vehicle skidded to the left.

“He tried to control the vehicle but failed before his car swerved into the opposite lane causing the accident,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Fadil said the vehicle driven by a 35-year-old teacher was carrying a seven-year-old student while the third car was carrying the driver’s 10-year-old son.

According to Fadil, all victims suffered light injuries.
