TDAFA holds selection for junior players

The Tutong District Amateur Football Association (TDAFA) with the cooperation from the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) held a selection for under-14 and under-16 junior players to represent Tutong District at the Tutong Sports Complex yesterday.

Nearly 100 junior players and five coaches were involved in the selection process assisted by two members from the NFABD Technical Department.

TDAFA General Secretary Matusin bin Sumpong said, “The selection is held to select players from the Tutong district aged below 14 and 16 where selected players will undergo training based on the programme which will be arranged by
the coach.

“At the same time, members from the Technical Department will come to look at the players during training. From there, any players that have been selected will join an academy organised by NFABD.”

Twenty junior players will be selected to attend a training programme based on the schedule which will be set by the appointed coach.

The programme called ‘Build the Future’ is supported by the Japan Football Association (JFA).

Players born between 2005 and 2006 were eligible to take part in the selection for under-16 players while players that were born between 2007 and 2008 could take part in the selection for under-14 players.
