TAP officers detect violators

Rokiah Mahmud

Employees Trust Fund (TAP) inspectors detected 16 employees in the Brunei-Muara District that were not registered to the TAP and Supplemental Contributory Pension (SCP) schemes.

The detection was made during visits by TAP officials to 58 business premises in Kampong Sengkurong.

Employers who failed to present documents were instructed to be present at the TAP office for further action and to ensure that the local employees are registered and make contributions.

TAP reminded employers of their responsibility to register and make contributions for employees eligible for the TAP and SCP schemes.

These include workers holding permanent, temporary, contract, daily-paid and under probation.

Under Section 26 of the Employees Trust Act, if found guilty, an employer will be fined no more than BND3,000 for the first offence and no more than BND10,000 for the second and subsequent offences.
