Five students from Berakas Secondary School are competing in a regional-level science competition in Singapore.
The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO)-Singapore Science Challenge, which takes place from July 4 to 8, is a competition between outstanding students from SEAMEO countries.
This year’s theme ‘Sustainable and Resilient Communities’ comprises a virtual workshop and a face-to-face challenge.
The Brunei team will present a proposal paper on an evaporative cooling suit project to a panel of judges for the competition.
They will also visit schools and places of interest in Singapore.
Participating Year 9 students are Muhaiminul Izzan bin Zul Hisham, Muhammad Iman Danial bin Haji Awang, Syahmi Ar-Rasyad bin Haji Mohammad Raihan, Ashifa Dhabitah binti Haji Noordawani and Nurul Sheilawati Ataillah binti Emran @ Sheila Vatsaloo.
The students are accompanied by supervising teacher Nurul Faizah binti Ya’akub and an officer from the Centre for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education (EDGE) Rozi-Suzanah binti Yatab.
The regional programme aims to provide students an opportunity for students in SEAMEO countries to collaborate in solving problems, gain perspective at the global level and cross-cultural skills.
