Taking HR profession to greater heights

Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) sponsored the recent Human Relations (HR) Professionals Networking Meeting at The Rizqun International Hotel to encourage the creation of platforms for networking and sharing of best practices among HR professionals across the nation.

BSP Human Resources Director Hajah Zainab MA Omar hosted the event, attended by over 130 HR professionals from over 45 organisations.

“Dreams do come true, and this event marks the start of building further HR professionalism in the country as part of Brunei Vision 2035,” Hajah Zainab said.

The first-of-its-kind event served as an avenue for collaborative professional networking and capability building of HR professionals in the Sultanate.

Head of the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) Secretariat at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and event co-host Marzalenie binti Haji Omar highlighted the importance of networking at the national level. She expressed hopes to leverage on the network and influence HR colleagues to have a more targetted recruitment strategy and focussed capability building in efforts to towards curb unemployment.

A networking community dubbed ‘Brunei HR Society’ is expected to be launched by the end of next year, pending the completion of the registration process with the Registrar of Societies.

Participants expressed interest in become members of the upcoming community. They also offered positive feedback, lauding the creation of a platform for networking and best practice sharing.
