Indonesian aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) is committed to improving the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) pilot capabilities in operating the CN 235-110 aircraft.

PT DI test pilot and flight instructor Captain Esther Gayatri noted this at a dinner hosted by Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr Sujatmiko at his residence at the Diplomatic Enclave of Jalan Kebangsaan on Thursday.

Captain Esther’s visit along with flight test engineer Iqbal, is to fill in the PT DI’s training service at the RBAirF request, with the training designed to improve pilots’ ability in operating the CN235-110 aircraft and flight safety operations.

Dr Sujatmiko welcomed the pilot training programme between PT DI and RBAirF, noting that this cooperation will be a good opportunity for the two countries to enhance aerospace relation.

“As a close neighbour with a common culture, Indonesia also wants to offer PT Dirgantara’s flagship product, the CN235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA), to Brunei Darussalam, a maritime security patrol aircraft in the Region,” said Dr Sujatmiko.

PT DI carried out a flight training programme for RBAirF pilot captaincy, maintenance check pilot and flight instructor with PT DI assigned Capt Esther Gayatri Saleh as test pilot and flight instructor and Iqbal to train Major Mohd Adieb bin Abdul Rahman from RBAirF with three flight training programmes – captaincy training, maintenance check pilot and flight instructor training.

The flight training programme began in September and continues until the third week of this month.
