Taiwan orchestra, choir feted; enjoy Brunei’s attractions

MORE than 200 visitors from Taiwan participating in a musical collaboration with Jerudong International School (JIS) were feted during a reception at The Empire Hotel & Country Club recently.

Among the visitors were Chung Chin Youth Choir and Chang Hua City Orchestra.

The visitors also toured attractions in Brunei Darussalam including Kampong Ayer, Oil and Gas Discovery Centre (OGDC) and Jerudong Park Playground.

The main highlight of their trip was the joint performance of Chang Hua City Youth Orchestra, Chung Chin Youth Choir and JIS Orchestra at the Arts Centre of JIS.

Manager of HALCA Health and Aesthetics Solutions Anita Vathje arranged the musical exchange between JIS and the Taiwan group with sponsorship from Rini Steil, Kit Kor and Kai-Henning. JIS sponsored a two-day music camp for the children from Taiwan.

JIS Principal Barnaby Sandow, teachers and staff including Nick Sheehan, Jordan Bateman, Justin Harris, Nick Smith, Janette Brass, Jamie Sales, Stefanie Chua, Sharon Jusay, Franz Lanzaderas, Jon Mark Nexbitt, Emily Zhang, Linda Tan, and Anne Dickenson participated to help in the music camp.
