Symposium updates physicians on latest medical advances

With the objective to share updates on advances in medical emergencies management, the Internal Medicine of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital held an Internal Medicine Symposium 2019 yesterday.

The symposium which aimed to outline a practical evidence-based approach in diagnosis and giving acute clinical treatment was held at the Theatre Hall of the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) building.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar was the guest of honour. The one-day symposium had 10 speakers comprising specialists and officers from RIPAS Hospital. Among topics deliberated were ‘The Blue and The Breathless’; ‘Transportation of Sick Patient’; ‘VT vs SVT: How can we tell them apart?’; ‘ID Mix bag of Treats’; ‘Endocrine Emergencies: Is it a Storm’; ‘Acute Management of SLE’; ‘Haemoptysis’; ‘Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy vs Intermittent Haemodialysis in Intensive Care’; ‘Update on Gastrointestinal Bleeding’; and ‘Neuromuscular Emergencies’.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Haji Abdul Manap bin Othman; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the MoH Dr Haji Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul Latif; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Management) at the MoH Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin; Acting Director General of Medical and Health Services Pengiran Dr Haji Mohd Khalifah bin Pengiran Haji Ismail, directors, officers and staff of MoH were also present.
