THE Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance (FEKIm) of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) organised an industrial talk on Syariah governance in Islamic Financial Institutions at the Jubilee Hall recently.
The programme aimed to provide an introduction to the Syariah governance system as well as its principles in Islamic financial institutions in Malaysia.
Dean of FEKIm Dr Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani was the guest of honour.
Over 100 participants attended the special talk comprising representatives from local higher education institutions, undergraduates, representatives from Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), Syarikat Takaful Brunei Darussalam Sdn Bhd, Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB), Yasaar Advisory Services (B) Sdn Bhd and the public.
Two representatives from Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad conducted the talk.
Head, Syariah Advisory, Research and Training Ahmad Zainal Abidin presented his topic on Syariah Governance in Islamic Financial Institutions which touched on the Syariah Governance Framework published by Bank Negara Malaysia in 2010.
Meanwhile, Head of Syariah Research Muhd Hafizul Fikry bin Mah Ali spoke on Syariah Review and Non-Compliance Reporting where he described procedures for understanding the standards and legal frameworks for Syariah non-compliance reports (SNCs) in Malaysia.
