Survey to monitor level of financial literacy among Bruneians

The Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) in collaboration with the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) will conduct the Financial Literacy Survey 2022 from August 20 to September 30.

The study’s main objective of the study is to determine Bruneians’ level of understanding on financial issues. The findings will be used as a tool by the National Financial Literacy Council in monitoring the level of financial literacy in the Sultanate and evaluating the effectiveness of financial literacy initiatives conducted. The findings will also be used as a basis for formulating effective policies and strategies in enhancing the level of financial literacy in Brunei.

A total of 1,600 households throughout the country have been randomly selected to participate in the survey. The interview will be conducted face-to-face and will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. CSPS assured the selected households that the information collected during the survey will be kept strictly confidential and will be used for statistical purpose only.

CSPS has appointed 50 interviewers to undertake the fieldwork for the survey across the four districts. The interviewers will receive an intensive interviewing training prior to the survey.

Selected households are reminded to ensure that the interviewers visiting their premises are those appointed by CSPS through their survey passes, appointment letters and identity cards.

The support and co-operation from all selected households in providing correct and complete information are essential for the survey’s success.
