An audience survey by state broadcaster Radio Television Brunei (RTB) on 5,017 respondents recently showed 83.5 per cent of Bruneians watch RTB channels, RTB Director Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu said yesterday.

The 2018/2019 survey open to Brunei citizens aged 15 and above indicated that 73.2 per cent of the respondents watch news programmes, while 92 per cent prefer RTB’s radio networks.

The director made these remarks during the prize presentation for selected lucky draw winners of the audience survey at RTB’s Dewan Raya in the capital yesterday.

The survey carried out from July 7 to October 12, 2019 is part of RTB’s continuous efforts to identify community responses towards their programmes.

“RTB can identify the perception of audience and listeners, allowing us to improve our content and presentation to fulfil the changing and rising needs and expectations. It will aid in our effort to enhance and produce programmes in tandem with public satisfaction,” he added.

Haji Muhammad Suffian said the response rate of the survey this time is motivation for RTB to constantly improve their programmes.

“RTB as the government’s information communicator will strive to expand its role of disseminating and broadcasting information through more effective and modern methods,” he added.

The director presented prizes to winners of the lucky draw who were selected based on their participation during the survey.

The prizes were sponsored by RTB and prominent companies.
