The Survey Department emerged champion of the Ministry of Development (MoD) and departments under it in a 11-a-side Football Championship for 2021 after defeating the Department of Administration and Finance and Director General’s Office Combined Team 1-0 at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.
Abang Norsillmy bin Abang Haji Taha scored the only goal of the game in the hour mark.
Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) at the MoD Ir Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria presented
the prizes.
The competition initially commenced with the group stages on August 1 with 12 teams divided into two groups of six. The participating teams also included Department of Water Services, Public Works Department Kuala Belait, Housing Development Department, Town and Country Planning, Department of Building Services, Department of Technical Services, Department of Drainage and Sewerage, Department of Mechanical and Electrical Services, MoD and Land Department.
En route to the final, the Survey Department defeated the Land Department 2-0 while the Department of Administration and Finance beat Department of Drainage and Sewerage 1-0 in the last four.
Meanwhile, the final hero Abang Norsillmy won the Top Scorer award after bagging a competition high of eight goals.
The tournament was organised by the Survey Department.
