Volunteers from Green Brunei, Great Eastern and various academic institutions planted 100 saplings at Sungai Penyatang in the Tutong District on Thursday.
The event along the Tutong-Telisai Highway, organised by Great Eastern in collaboration with Green Brunei and with the support of the Forestry Department, had 40 participants.
The initiative was held to support the national climate change mitigation plans which is in line with Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy’s Strategy 2, Forest Cover and the Green Protocol.
It was also conducted to support forest recovery efforts in the area, which had suffered bush fires in the past.
Present were Great Eastern Branch Manager Aariz Patrick Ng and Green Brunei’s Co-founder Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari.
