Super Squad officially announced the launch of a new season during a ceremony at the Darussalam Lounge of the Peak Performance Sdn Bhd in Berakas recently.

Founder of Super Squad Faezal Murni said they have launched a platform in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in 2019 for the Super Borneo Championship.

“For the opening ceremony in October that year, we flew 68 people comprising our top players, the media and guests,” he said.

The players competed in the leader board from October to December in Brunei and Kota Kinabalu. In December 2019, Faezal said they sent another 15 players to represent Brunei against top players in Kota Kinabalu, and they won.

“However, in 2020, the COVID-19 hit the whole world and as a young start-up we were devastated and it affected us. We had zero operations for one year,” he continued.

“But we have created new products and we plan to launch them in the third quarter of this year.”

The implementation of the de-escalation plan last month enabled Super Squad to resume its operations. It is now operating five times per week.

In the past month, Super Squad has hosted 22 gamedays with 264 games and 893 new players joining the platform, bringing in a total of 2,464 games with 4,813 players.

The new season, which ends on June 25, will provide new leader boards for both solo and team platforms with exciting prizes to be awarded to top players from each platform.

Director of Tourism Malaysia (Brunei office) Haji Ibrahim Seddiqi bin Talib was the guest of honour at the launch.

This season’s prize sponsors are Tourism Malaysia, Peak Performance, Pocket, Pitch, Meshh Football Shop, HeloBn and AirGoal.
