In echoing the spirit of giving during the blessed month of Ramadhan, Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) Champion-7 Offshore Crew hosted a sungkai event with 61 individuals comprising those with Down Syndrome from the Able Association and orphans.
Held on March 14 at An-Na’im Mosque in Kampong Panchor Mengkubau, the event was organised by Crew-B from the Champion-7 Offshore platform, as part of BSPCares programme, which is a volunteerism programme that initially launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Brunei to allow BSP staff to provide support and contribute towards the national COVID-19 relief.
Since then, the programme has continued to inspire more volunteer work among BSP staff members as they continue to demonstrate care and community contributions, such as this sungkai event.
The event first began with the recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa Arwah before proceeding with a donation handover session to the invited recipients by the Champion-7 Offshore Installation Managers, followed by a mass Maghrib prayer.
The event concluded with the Sungkai event. As a result of this event, they have accumulated over BND4,000 in donations from Champion-7 residents as well as staff from BSP’s East Asset. – Daniel Lim
