A man in Kampong Sungai Kebun was slapped with a BND500 a compound fine by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) after he was caught on CCTV disposing trash in a public area.
Pengiran Haji Hassan bin Pengiran Haji Hassim was caught on CCTV disposing trash at the public premise, resulting in the fine being issued on February 2.
The fine was issued under Section 12(1), Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
Pengiran Haji Hassan was given seven days to settle the fine.
Failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court, and if found guilty, a further fine of no less than BND1,000 and no more than BND3,000 will be handed.
JASTRe reminded the public and companies to ensure the cleanliness of the environment is maintained.
