Darussalam Motorcycle Association (PEMODA) former president Haji Abu Bakar bin Haji Mohd Arshad, who is now one of the honorary members, represented the Sultanate at the ‘Europe Ride’ event from August 2-21.

Haji Abu Bakar, who left the country on August 2, was sent off by PEMODA Vice President Shahrin bin Shahbudin where he first travelled to Kuala Lumpur and joined riders from Malaysia before continuing their flight to Croatia where the ride was flagged off. The event covered six European countries – Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Austria – covering over 2,000 kilometres.

The convoy, comprising 15 riders, crossed the borders of each country and stopped at the main cities as well as made pit stops at landmarks including Mount Stelvio along the border between Italy and Switzerland with a height of 2,758 metres using high powered motorcycles. The convoy also visited Hallstatt, the oldest village in Austria.

PEMODA will continue to be active in providing riders a sense of interest in high-powered motorcycles by conducting programmes and activities at home and abroad, a spokesman said.
