Sultanate marks International Civil Aviation Day

The Department of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) yesterday held a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony to mark International Civil Aviation Day, at the Brunei International Airport’s surau.

International Civil Aviation Day is observed every December 7 to enhance awareness on the importance of international civil aviation in the socio-economic development of the nation, and the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) role in assisting to realise international civil aviation in global rapid transit network.

The theme for this year is ‘Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development.’

Brunei Darussalam, as a member of the body, supports the ICAO’s aspiration of enhancing aviation innovation through responsive and dynamic regulation assessment approach, intended to support new development and speed up harmonisation in aviation sector.

Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof attended.

Permanent secretary, deputy permanent secretaries, department heads, senior officers, officers and staff of MTIC, departments and authorities under it, Brunei International Airport stakeholders and former Civil Aviation directors also attended.

The ceremony began with mass Maghrib prayer led by Acting Imam Mohammad Alihan bin Abusamah, followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Ratib Al-Attas and Doa Kesyukuran to seek blessings of Allah the Almighty. It concluded with Isyak prayer.
