Sultan chairs Adat Istiadat Council meeting

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday chaired the special Meeting of the Adat Istiadat Council. The conference took place at the Prime Minister’s Office Building Complex in Jalan Perdana Menteri.

Also in attendance were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Advisor to Adat Istiadat Council; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, Chairman of the council; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Second Deputy Chairman of the council; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Third Deputy Chairman of the council; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, Fourth Deputy Chairman of the council.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara as Assistant Chairman for Adat Istiadat Council Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibul Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat read by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.

The Adat Istiadat Council comprises Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Cheterias, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Council, Commissioner of Police, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Pehin-Pehin Manteris.
