The Sultanate yesterday saw unexpected heavy downpours late in the afternoon.
Several vehicles were involved in minor accidents along the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway as a result of the sudden heavy rain, leading to traffic congestion in Kiulap.
According to a warning issued by the Brunei Meteorological Department, heavy thunderstorms were forecast from 6.15pm to 9.30pm.
The agency also warned of the risk of flash floods and wind of up to 45 kilometres per hour during thunderstorms.
