Students treated to afternoon of knowledge

Dayangku Hajah Razainah binti Pengiran Haji Daud from the Community Development Department (JAPEM) stressed on the topic of special needs, as well as ways to communicate with special needs individuals during the SINAR Programme yesterday.

Year 9 students from Lambak Kiri Secondary School attended the talk which saw presentations by guests from JAPEM and Islamic Legal Unit.

The talks aimed to raise awareness on the current issues in young people’s welfare, encompassing topics of special needs, communication, and a refresher on Syariah law.

Officers brought interactivity and engagement with a demonstration and exercise on sign language during which the students tried their hands on alphabets, numbers and jawi.

Students also participated in discussions on their experiences with special needs.

Meanwhile, Hajah Norhatijah binti Haji Puteh from the Islamic Legal Unit Islam conveyed information on Syariah law, as well as the history and sections under the law.

She provided details behind the basis for the various sections of law and examples.

Students and staff also offered feedback and were given time to share their thoughts on the topics in a survey.
