Laksamana College of Business (LCB) computing students took an eye-opening journey into the metaverse through a talk delivered by Rumine Corporation co-founder Nursheila Ziziuma on Monday.
The ‘Immersive Metaverse – AR, VR, MR and XR’ talk introduced students to various types of reality technology and features.
The talk explained that virtual reality (VR) is a 3D, entirely digital environment; augmented reality (AR) adds a digital overlay on top of a live camera view; mixed reality (MR) combines fully virtual, augmented, and real-world aspects; and that extended reality (XR) is the umbrella terminology to define all the above. Extended reality is also strongly associated with the metaverse concept.
The three main topics discussed were Introduction and users of Immersive Metaverse, Importance of Metaverse, and type of Metaverse available.
The speaker also shared on metaverse features and how they have been applied in the market.
Through the talk, students were able to gain knowledge of the virtual and metaverse, and how they can be applied to projects in the near future.
The talk ended with a questions and answers session, and an opportunity to test VR games and headsets.
