SAYYIDINA Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School (SMSUA) emerged as champions of the Pertandingan Akhir Manifestasi Cerita Pendek (short story) for Secondary Schools 2019, organised by the Co-Curriculum Education Department, Ministry of Education (MoE).
First-runner up was Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School (SUAMPRIPAD) followed by Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School and Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School.
Meanwhile, SMSUA won the award for Best Story Line while Md Aliff bin Haji Sahari from SMSUA won the Best Actor award.
Guest of honour, Assistant Director of Co-Curriculum Education at the MoE Mohammad Norilham bin Haji Jais presented the prizes.
Senior Education Officer, Head of Akli Unit and organising committee Chairperson Hajah Hadijah binti Haji Abdul Wahab said the competition was the first of its kind.
“The competition aimed to enrich creativity and collaboration between teachers and students to dig more on the story that can be interpreted from a narrative sketch to a stage performance,” she said.
