Students show athletic prowess at Sports Day

Sports Day was an annual event held by the schools here in Brunei Darussalam. This was the moment where the students were able to show their athletic skills and camaraderie with one another. St James’ School held its Sports Day at Anthony Abell College in Seria on April 13.

The students were first divided to their house colours; red, blue, green and yellow.

The spectacular opening ceremony showcased teams performing their own cheers. After the cheerleading portion, students recited prayers followed by the singing of the national anthem.

Events included a 100m relay race, 400m race and tug of war.

The team who had garnered the highest score will have the rights to win the Governor’s Cup Trophy.

The first sport session began with a running competition of two members from each group and it was categorised according to their age to ensure fairness among the participants.

The blue team was declared the winner for this year’s Sport’s Day.

The main reason why St James’ School was having a Sports Day was to build teamwork among the students and helped them to become active in sports.
