I would like to appeal to parents to follow the traffic regulations within the school compounds. These rules are there for a reason; they are set up to protect the students and the teachers.
At my son’s primary school, it is specified that no cars are allowed to pull over on the premises. There are even traffic cones to indicate these no parking zones.
However, there are parents who ignore the rules, with some even parking squarely on the zebra crossing itself, which causes obstruction to children and teachers crossing the road.
Their disregard for safety of young children is appalling. School grounds should be designed to protect children from harm; not be the catalyst of danger.
I believe the authorities need to be more vigilant in making sure their regulations are followed, because placing a few traffic cones to deter drivers from certain areas hasn’t been working well.
